Apreciados colegas y amigos:

Me permito agradecerles su voluntad de participar en nuestra XVI CIAEM.
El Comité Interamericano de Educación Matemática es consciente de la delicada situación política que ha atravesado Perú en las semanas previas. No obstante, tenemos la firme convicción que la situación llegará a un equilibrio en nuestro hermano país. Creemos que nuestro congreso no se verá impactado por esta situación y por eso seguimos con todos nuestros planes previstos. Nuestros colegas del Comité Organizador Local en la Universidad de Lima y en el Perú están absolutamente comprometidos con la realización de la XVI CIAEM; están trabajando para asegurar todas las condiciones. Obviamente no tenemos una bola de cristal que nos permita ver el futuro, pero valoramos que podremos realizar este congreso con éxito en la segunda mitad del año. 
En pocos días ya habremos aprobado 400 propuestas de trabajos (ponencias abiertas), después de un riguroso proceso de revisión científica. Tenemos autores de 28 países.

Thank you so much for your willingness to participate in our XVI CIAEM.
The Inter-American Committee of Mathematics Education is aware of the delicate political situation that Peru has gone through in the previous weeks. However, we are firmly convinced that the situation will reach a balance in this country. We believe that our congress will not be affected by this situation and that is why we continue with all our planned plans. Our colleagues from the Local Organizing Committee at the University of Lima and in Peru are absolutely committed to holding the XVI CIAEM. They are working to ensure all conditions. Obviously we do not have a crystal ball that allows us to see the future, but we judge that we will be able to hold this congress successfully in the second half of the year.
In a few days we will already have approved 400 submissions (open), after a rigorous scientific review process. We have authors from 28 countries.
